  It has a very specific teaching style that lacks examples but emphasizes analytical skills. It assigns too much homework to make up for the lack of examples, which are both textbook problems and the online MyLab. Exams are usually easier than class. Participation is not mandatory, but does not post the notes.

  Simring is nice and actually a very good professor as he seems to really care about his students and their success. However, the task is ridiculous and will take hours out of your week. The only benefit of the homework is that I felt like I didn't have to study as much for the tests since I already had a lot of practice.

  Swimming was great. I just came here to say that GSgs are not as good as people make them out to be. They are confusing and when you ask a question you never really get an answer. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED going to review sessions.

  I thought the amount of homework was ridiculous. We had an assignment right after Thanksgiving break and two big assignments due in the last week of the semester. GSGs were a lifesaver because lectures don't really help prepare you for homework or exams.

  Dr. Simring is a good person, but he is disorganized and explains things in the most complicated way. He gives an inhuman amount of homework, he literally gave three homeworks due in the last week of class. Other sections of this course received exam review packets and his section received nothing.   I liked Simring up to 140B. I took a calculus class in high school, but Simring's theoretical explanations helped me understand the subject on a much deeper level. His classes are long, but if you start early and go to office hours when you need help, the exam will be a breeze. Very funny guy too - can't recommend him enough.

  He's funny, but don't let that fool you, because after the first day you won't understand a single thing he's saying. He assigns so much homework (3 homeworks over 120 questions on average a day before the exam for just one subject). the only thing that helped me was dylan's exam reviews.

  I had a whole rant but I'll make this short cause the word counts. His lectures make no sense. He goes through things very quickly. He assigns an inhuman homework. It doesn't show the course grade until the end of the semester, so you don't know how well you're doing. He takes forever to reply to his email. I hated my life in that classroom.

  The lectures go a bit fast, but he is always open to questions. I can definitely recommend going to his office hours as he takes a lot of time to clear up the confusion from both lecture and homework. There are many homework assignments that contain difficult problems, but working them out makes the exam questions look very easy.

  You probably came to this page because you are considering dropping this class. Well, I'm here to tell you NO. If you have a good work ethic and are willing to put in the time, you will make it! It will be overwhelming at times with the homework, there are 100+ problems and the 14 page quizzes, but you can do it! Also go to GSG and trust the process

  The best way I would describe him is Sikowitz from Victorious in real life. He's a great guy and so much fun, but his teaching can be hard to follow. I took calc in high school so I had no trouble passing, but I know a lot of friends in my class failed because, like I said, teaching it can be a little off if you've never seen the material before.

  Simring doesn't deserve the hate he's getting. He was truly the most caring and helpful professor I have ever had. It helps you until you clear up your confusion on a topic. He stays in the office late and answers any questions people have. If you are going to take math 140 or 141, you will have simring.

  Honestly, taking this class with Simring was the only reason I passed. At first he seems picky and a little out there, but he cares incredibly about each student and will go out of his way to work with you/extend his work, etc. It assigns a lot of homework, but it helps to understand the material for completeness, so be prepared for it.

  The course sets were quite large but still manageable. Given that, he is still a good teacher who cares about his students' understanding of the content. If you ask questions in class and go to office hours when you're confused, you'll be fine. He is also very funny and likes to get to know his students more personally.

  Very fun and easy with homework deadlines, of which there are many, but it's about enforcing what you know and what you don't know. You have office hours twice a week and usually stay as long as you need until you get what you don't understand. Be sure to attend the lecture, even if it is not mandatory, you will not succeed if you miss the class.

  I took calc in high school and understand the material. When I took this course, I got confused with siming's teaching style and ended up teaching myself. The task is crazy and there are more than 100 problems.

  Professor Simring gives a lot of work and not a lot of work that has to do with what you will see on the exam. His lectures are always off topic and we don't do many practice problems. The exams are extremely difficult and are graded quite strictly. Don't take the engineering math class and definitely try to avoid downloading Simring.

  Truancy? You won't pass.test
